Rainbow PreSchool

Rainbow Pre-school - Introduction

Rainbow Pre-School was established in 1979. We aim to provide, for 2½ to 5 year olds, a sound base of education and practical development skills, which assist your children on the move to “Big School”. A stimulating, caring atmosphere is provided by staff to ensure your child builds confidence, develops self reliance, learns to make decisions and develops the ability to articulate feelings and ideas.

Our Pre-School meets on Mondays to Fridays from 9.15am until noon and from 1pm to 3.30pm. Our groups consist of 2 ½ year olds to Rising 5’s. The younger children initially attend for 2 sessions per week or more by prior arrangement. These extra sessions are determined by spaces available at that time. The term after the child’s 3rd birthday they are funded by the government to attend 5 sessions per week. At the present time the children are split into two groups with the oldest children in one and the youngest in another making the differentiating of activities and length of time spent on them easier to administer for their developmental stage.

At the present time Rainbow Pre-school has a large number of children on the waiting list. In order to accommodate those children in the best possible way, it was decided to re-open additional sessions at the Quaker Meeting House on Chapel Hill.

This enables the children starting to have time to settle into a smaller, quieter group where the children will be of similar age. The group is under the management of Terrie Stockwell but will be run on a day-to-day basis by Deputy Manager Ann Perman ably assisted by Michelle Sankey and volunteer Ann Conroy.

Summer Fete
We are hoping to repeat the success of last year's summer fete. This year's is 2-4pm on Saturday 20th June, at the Quaker Hall. We are planning lots of stalls and activities so do come along! We also need helpers to run the stalls.
If you are able to help, please let me (Kate) know on 814801.If you can't help for the full two hours, perhaps you can run a stall jointly with a friend? Maybe you have partners, parents or siblings who would be willing to help?
After half term there will be a list outside Rainbow for you to sign up on. Please consider it. We would hate to have to cancel due to lack of helpers.

Fundraising
Thankyou to everyone in the younger group who collected sponsor money for the 'cake make.' You raised a fantastic £497.50!!!
A special well done to Faith for raising the most money and to Henry for coming a VERY close second!

Banardos 'Big Toddle.'
The older group will be taking part in this event, organised by Rachel Pocknell (local childminder), on Friday 12th June in the morning. More details to follow.

Thanks
Thankyou to Kate Donohoe (Cameron's Mum), for helping to keep our garden looking lovely.

Prize Donations
We need your help getting prizes donated for our 'Golden Envelope' fundraiser at our fete. These have been very popular in the past, with some brilliant prizes being donated by local businesses/attractions. So if you run your own business or work for someone who would be willing to donate a prize to us, please let me (Kate) know on 814801. Thank you
