Rainbow PreSchool

Rainbow Pre-school - Introduction

Rainbow Pre-School was established in 1979. We aim to provide, for 2½ to 5 year olds, a sound base of education and practical development skills, which assist your children on the move to “Big School”. A stimulating, caring atmosphere is provided by staff to ensure your child builds confidence, develops self reliance, learns to make decisions and develops the ability to articulate feelings and ideas.

Our Pre-School meets on Mondays to Fridays from 9.15am until noon and from 1pm to 3.30pm. Our groups consist of 2 ½ year olds to Rising 5’s. The younger children initially attend for 2 sessions per week or more by prior arrangement. These extra sessions are determined by spaces available at that time. The term after the child’s 3rd birthday they are funded by the government to attend 5 sessions per week. At the present time the children are split into two groups with the oldest children in one and the youngest in another making the differentiating of activities and length of time spent on them easier to administer for their developmental stage.

At the present time Rainbow Pre-school has a large number of children on the waiting list. In order to accommodate those children in the best possible way, it was decided to re-open additional sessions at the Quaker Meeting House on Chapel Hill.

This enables the children starting to have time to settle into a smaller, quieter group where the children will be of similar age. The group is under the management of Terrie Stockwell but will be run on a day-to-day basis by Deputy Manager Ann Perman ably assisted by Michelle Sankey and volunteer Ann Conroy.

Rainbow Pre-school - News Letter

Welcome
Welcome to all our new pupils and welcome back to our old ones! We hope that you have all settled in well.

Curriculum news
Work for this term is based around ‘The Woods’ and later, Harvest. Terrie, Yvonne and Lorraine have been busy planning lots of exciting activities for the term and the older group have already enjoyed a trip to Hatfield Forest to hunt for hedgehogs.

Welcome Lunch
It was great to see so many of you at the ‘welcome lunch’ last week. I’m sure you will agree the entertainer was fantastic at keeping the children engrossed for an hour and that it was difficult to drag them away to eat anything! Hopefully those of you that didn’t know many other people got to know a few more and you all enjoyed yourselves.

Future Fundraisers
Some of you may remember our famous Xmas puddings, or even have tasted them! Well, they will be back with customised labels, along with various flavours of sponge pudding. We will let you know in advance of any tasting sessions so you can ‘try before you buy’ and when they will be on sale.

OFSTED
We were surprised by a visit by OFSTED last week, despite having had a good one in January! This was because the school was being inspected and it is routine to inspect pre-school providers located on school premises at the same time. It seemed to go well and more details will be available in a few weeks.
